ABOUT HAKUBA
Welcome to Hakuba - the foot of the Japan Alps

Hakuba is a welcoming small village located in the north western part of Nagano Prefecture and is a popular all-year round resort area.

It has been a popular tourism destination for Japanese for a long time and is recently becoming more well-known outside of Japan.

Surrounded by mountains, the location could not be more idyllic.  In winter, huge amounts of snow fall in the valley and on the mountains, transforming the village into a world-class winter sports destination.

Hakuba is probably best known however for the fantastic winter sports facilities, including the famous Happo-one resort which hosted the downhill race at the Nagano Winter Olympics in 1998.

With a huge range of courses on offer at 7 resort areas, skiers and snowboarders at all skill levels will find something to suit them in Hakuba.

Hakuba is not just about winter - it is also very popular during the months when the snow has melted.

The mountains provide endless opportunities for trekking and hiking and other popular activities.

There are also traditional Japanese arts and crafts, ancient temples, museums, sightseeing spots, bars and restaurants to keep you occupied at any time of the year.
